Damián Santilli is a sworn English<>Spanish translator graduated from the Universidad de Morón, and also, a certified international Spanish copy editor and proofreader, certified by the Fundación Litterae and the Fundación del Español Urgente (Fundéu). He has obtained a Master's Degree in Applied Linguistics from Ateneum University (Poland) and ISTRAD, and written a thesis on the influence of Mexicanisms in Neutral Spanish. He has over 15 years of experience as a professional and teacher of translation technology, audiovisual translation, software localization, and technical translation.
He's a professor of translation technology for the BA in Translation (English) at Lenguas Vivas "Juan Ramón Fernández" and of Translation Technology and Terminology and Documentation and at the Master’s Degree in Translation and Interpreting of the Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA). At UBA, he is the director of the MA in Translation Technology, Localization and Audiovisual Translation and professor of Translation Environment Tools II and Subtitling.
Since 2009, he offered more than 100 workshops and dissertations on audiovisual translation, translation technology and Spanish proofreading to more than 3,000 students in different cities of Argentina (Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Mendoza, Río Negro, Mar del Plata, Santa Fe) and the world (Germany, Peru, Spain, and Uruguay). In 2018, he was part of the team that created the Netflix's Hermes test and managed the Latin-American version of the exam and he is currently member of the AVT Pro Certification team.
He's co-author and main coordinator of the Manual de informática aplicada a la traducción, the first comprehensive book written on translation technology in Spanish, published in 2016 by Editorial CTPCBA.
He's a member of the Colegio de Traductores Públicos de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires (CTPCBA) since 2007, the Unión de Correctores de España (UniCo), the European Association for Studies in Screen Translation (ESIST) and The Subtitlers' Association (SUBTLE), and has created different platforms to promote translation, such as TAV Argentina, Entredichos, The Translation Show, HispaTAV, and En sincronía.

Subtitler
Since 2006, I specialize on audiovisual translation, particularly subtitling. Up to this date, I have translated over a 1,000 episodes of TV series, for channels like TNT, MTV, Fox, Golf Channel, TruTV, TCM, Space, Encuentro, HSM, ManagemenTV, Europa Europa and others. I have also translated dozens of movies for TV and different streaming services, movie festivals, social media, and online conferences.

At present time, I am a lecturer of Translation Technology at the BA in Translation of Instituto Lenguas Vivas "J. R. F.". At the University of Buenos Aires, I teach Translation Technology and Terminology and Documentation at the Master’s Degree on Translation and Interpreting, and I am the director of the Master's Degree in Translation Technology, Localization and Audiovisual Translation.

In addition to my professional activity as translator, subtitler and copy editor, I am lecturer on seminars and workshops on technology applied to translation and subtitling. I regularly participate on a great amount of dissertations and lectures on conferences and congresses on technology for translators and subtitling.
